OK, so,…I am not going to go into the detail I usually do, we can all look at the box score & see what happened if you weren’t there. If you were there, then you already know.
South Western was good. This is hearsay, but I heard their pitcher is ranked #39th in the country for pitchers in the Class of 2025 & will be attending Univ. of MD next year. So, ladies, if you got a hit or made contact yesterday, pat yourself on the back, you likely hit off a D1 pitcher.
If you were skeptical about the quality of the Umpires at the Warwick game on Wednesday, this game left no doubt. There were multiple calls the Infield Umpire did not even see! Heck, there was a ball hit over the fence, foul, by South Western ruled a HR! A South Western player “stole” 3rd on a foul ball. I get it, PIAA is short Umpires/Referees, but just throwing bodies out there doesn’t seem like a solution. This continues to be an issue & it only hurts these kids out there giving it their all.
So, we had that going for us.
In the end, the poor officiating likely would not have made a difference. Hats off to South Western, they were good.
Hats off to our Lady Streaks as well though, they never gave up! It was pretty clear right from the get-go, this was going to be an uphill struggle & when the score was 12-0 in the 2nd inning, it would have been easy for them to give up, but that was not what I saw out there. I was especially impressed with our two Freshman pitchers yesterday, Violet Wagner (P) & Natalie Messina (P). They went right at South Western’s hitters, no fear, no hesitation. Even in the face of multiple (I believe South Western’s pitcher hit 3 yesterday) HR’s, they never seemed to lose their cool & continued to fire away!
So, now our weary Lady Blue Streaks move on to a make-up game today, April 25th, game 4 of 4 this week. We are at Home vs. Mechanicsburg. Let’s finish the week strong Ladies & enjoy the prom on Saturday!
Goooooooooo Streaks!!!! First pitch is 4:15pm, see you there!
