OK…So the title says it all…we are a young team. We had a freshman playing 1st Base & a freshman pitch 4 innings…there were some nerves out there, but even in light of the loss, there were some bright spots. With good coaching and more experience, Our Lady-Streaks have a lot of potential & I think we play this game later in the season and there is a different outcome. As it was, you negate that 1st inning where they scored 5 runs and this was a tie game. And, no disrespect to Exeter, they hit the cover off the ball with 13 hits (5 for doubles and 2 HRs)
Still…All-Star 2nd Baseman, Bella Stern was hot, Hot, HOT! with a 1.000% FPT on 6 chances…returning veteran Utility player, Natalie Brownell had a sort of diving catch in RF & a double…Freshman Pitcher, Addison Roeske, recorded her 1st Varsity K…and D-1 Rock Star “Big Play” May Castillo, made a stop and throw from Short Stop worthy of an ESPN highlight reel (not my subpar video editing skills) & knocked one out of the park! There were a lot of other contributors, but I am already late publishing this, so….
This team just needs time to get up to speed. Unfortunately, time waits for no one & our Blue Streaks will have a tough challenge facing Wilson, now on Tuesday, March 24th @ Wilson. Keep your Pepto-Bismol at the ready.
