Tough Loss to Rival

April showers bring may flowers.  While we did have some light sprinkles & brilliant lightning strikes that shortened the game, it felt more like Mother Nature didn’t check her calendar.  I am not sure where she is hiding spring, but it was a cold and dreary day, both the weather and on the field.

Township started off strong in the Top of the 1st with lead-off Bella Stern (2nd) back in the line-up singling to LF.  Ashley Bryant (1st) hit in to a fielder’s choice advancing Bella Stern (2nd) to 2nd.  Sara Hess (C) rocketed a double to the RF corner, scoring Bella Stern.  After that it was all Hempfield, scoring 8 in the bottom of the 1st and a lead the Lady Streaks could not recover from.

They had another other opportunity in the Top of the 3rd with 2 in scoring position, but with 2 outs the Streaks could not capitalize.  Ava Stern (P) doubled on a line drive blasted to the gap in LF, advancing Sara Hess (C), who reached 1st on a fielder’s choice earlier in the inning, to 3rd.  The inning ended though with both left on base.

The Streaks just could not get their bats going with only 4 hits recorded by Bella Stern (2nd), Sara Hess (C), Natalie Brownell (DP), & Ava Stern (P).

The Black Knights put the game further out of reach in what would be their last at bat due to lightning strikes in the bottom of the 4th with a 2 run HR & our Manheim Township Blue Streaks drop this one, 10-1.

The Streaks are on the road again Friday, April 4th @ 4:15pm in a tough match up vs. Solanco.  It is about a 45min drive, just south of Quarryville, so plan your travel accordingly.  Directions to the fields are available in the details page for the game.
